… or is it Swefling – one ‘eff’ or two?
Well, the answer to this depends on who you ask!
The (right) answer is most probably “Swefling”… that is if you go by the older records and want to line up with the fact that it is actually “The Parish of Swefling”.
However, many maps, roadside signs and the Post Office all think it’s Sweffling. Is this an early example of a “typo”… even before there was even the verb “to type”?
Embracing the second eff, Sweffling rests in the undulating Suffolk countryside, about midway between the towns of Saxmundham and Framlingham. There’s a pub and church bells and the village hut and lots of lovely people. What more could you want?
